Léa Katharina Meier

Léa Katharina Meier is a queer visual and performance artist based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Like the clowning tradition and practice, which uses laughter and ridicule as
as interrogators of the normative and oppressive views we have of the bodies and
visions of the worlds that surround us, Léa Katharina Meier develops within her projects
projects, a work of self-demolition which feeds on its failures. Considering that these
open new possibilities of dissident subjectivities and poetic narrations, she wishes to create a
poetic narratives, she wishes to create a space of resources welcoming my own vulnerability and
my own vulnerability and monstrosity, as well as those of the public, while breaking out of the logic of success and
success. By adopting a gaze that laughs at and questions her intimacy and sexuality, she exposes
and sexuality, she exposes her disgrace and finds grace in her own ridicule, wishing to participate in the
in the conception of a queer humor. With writing, drawing, textiles, video and performance
performance, Léa Katharina Meier constitutes ambiguous atmospheres where the organic, the
softness and violence coexist. Thus, she works on the creation of an aesthetic of
of dirt and pleasure where shame and abjectness occupy an empowering place.
