After an EP in 2022, Geneva-based singer Evita Koné unveils her debut album. Inspired by blossoming, « Build + Bloom » speaks of growth, freedom and rebirth. Ten tracks blending poetry and commitment, around themes close to the singer's heart: love, feminism, anti-racism and generational healing. With Chadian, African-American and Swiss roots, Evita Koné embraces a musical blending of cultures. A complete artist — songwriter, composer and performer — she defines herself above all as a performer: « I prefer being on stage. I really love that connection with the audience, the exchange and the spontaneity. »
Bio
Equally at home singing or rapping, Evita Koné places her voice at the heart of the groove. Gliding between hip-pop, neo-soul and RnB, the Geneva-based artist blends genres with ease, drawing on her Swiss, Chadian and American roots for inspiration. A key figure in the local scene as vocalist for the group Captains of the Imagination, she has also launched a solo career that took off when she won the Swiss Live Talents award in 2022. Break, her debut EP created with Swiss producer Christophe Calpini (Alain Bashung, Rodolphe Burger, Erik Truffaz), marks a powerful step forward, freeing her from convention. Hushed soul or dark-edged hip-hop, commanding vocals or razor-sharp flow, Koné moves effortlessly through it all — even diving into trip hop, as in End Game, where echoes of Lauryn Hill meet the moody textures of Tricky. Her lyrics weave together the personal and the political, as in Drums, where she calls out the oppression of women and non-binary people.
