Mycelium
The second part of an artistic exploration of the maternal body, drawing on societal, microbiological, folktale and dream-based body images.
MYCELIUM — Une communauté nourricière (2021). Inspiré de diverses traditions orales autour des récits de Baba Yaga, figure ambivalente à la fois mère et sorcière issue des contes populaires russes. MYCELIUM est (après MASA MATER) le deuxième volet d’une exploration artistique du corps maternel. En puisant dans des images corporelles issues de la société, de la microbiologie, des contes populaires et des rêves, nous nous lançons à la recherche du corps maternel. Les frontières entre les organismes s’estompent : nous échangeons des informations entre les levures et les cellules cutanées, entre le tympan et le nerf optique. Nous grandissons, nous nous étendons, nous nous divisons en mille morceaux. Où commence mon corps ? Et suis-je réellement ici de mon plein gré ? MYCELIUM a été invité à de nombreux festivals internationaux et a été nominé pour le prix Greenhorn au festival Figura en 2024. En 2025, MYCELIUM a remporté le prix du jury au festival Spectaculo Interessen à Ostrava.
Bio
Annina Mosimann, born in Bern in 1991, is a puppeteer, performer, and visual artist. She studied Fine Arts at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and Puppetry at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, and works as a freelance artist and theatre practitioner. Annina Mosimann's work exists at the intersection of performing and visual arts, as well as experimental music, focusing on figures, objects, materials, and the human body. Corporeality, in-between spaces, the unconscious, and the relationship between people and the things that surround us are central themes in her often whimsical, absurd, and humorous performances. Her works « Masa Mater » (2020), « Mycelium » (2021), and « Bestiarium » (2024) have been invited to numerous international festivals. Her latest production, « Bestiarium, » was selected for the Swiss Young Talent Award for Performing Arts, PREMIO 2024. She also collaborates in various formations with theatre collectives in Switzerland, Germany, and France. Collaborations include those with Nicole Mossoux, Julika Mayer, Elise Vigneron, Lutz Grossmann, and Renaud Herbin.
