Description
Emmeliin Chemouny was born in Israel and spent most of her youth dancing at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company School in Ga’aton, where she studied classical and modern dance (Graham) as well as the KCDC repertoire. At the same time, she took part in the student excellence program with the Batsheva Dance Company, where she learned the technique created by Ohad Naharin, Gaga, and the company’s repertoire.
She then moved to Belgium to complete her high school studies in dance at MUDA in Ghent, where opportunities in the world of European contemporary dance and performance began to open up. In 2018, she moved to Switzerland to begin her training in contemporary dance at La Manufacture in Lausanne, where she learned extensively about improvisation techniques and movement composition.
Today, since graduating in 2021, Emmeliin continues to develop her movement practice and works as a dancer, performer, creator, and choreographic assistant, collaborating notably with artists such as Géraldine Chollet, Marie Jeger, Nils Amadeus Lange, Teresa Vittucci, and Milva Stutz. Emmeliin is also part of the collective hearhere, with whom they undertook a residency at DOGO Residenz für Neue Kunst in St. Gallen and created the piece “on building a new park”.
