Cia Híbrida was founded in 2007, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the proposal to develop a unique research that mixes different types of artistic languages such as hip-hop dance, contemporary dance and theater. Since then, the company has received important awards in Brazil, such as
- President of the Choreographic Center of the City of Rio de Janeiro – since 2008 until today
- Funarte Prize – Occupation of Scenic Spaces – 2010
- Funarte Prize for Dance Klauss Vianna – 2011
- FADA Prize – Found Support for Dance – 2011 and 2012
- Fomentation of the Carioca Culture Program – 2013
In addition, Híbrida has been selected for several festivals throughout Brazil, passing through many cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Bahia, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul, becoming one of the most outstanding companies in Brazil.
In 2013, Companhia Híbrida made its first tour outside Brazil, passing through 2 cities in France: Saint Nazaire and La Baule. This tour had a great impact and the company will return to the premiere of your new show, OLHO NU, in November 2014, after the Brazilian premiere in October 2014. Now, in 2014, the company continues to present Moto Sensível in many theaters and already has three invitations to international festivals, beyond side.kicks in Munich/schwere reiter tanz.
The Companhia Híbrida was created in 2007 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, by theater director, choreographer and producer Renato Cruz.
As an aesthetic proposal, their stage creations are located at the intersection of hip-hop, theater and contemporary dance. From the beginning, the company’s proposal is to develop a singular research mixing different artistic languages, such as urban dances, contemporary dance, theatrical language and anything that can serve as a basis for the materialization of new ideas.
The Híbrida company has already won 9 projects of Occupation of the Choreographic Center of the City of Rio de Janeiro (Centro Coreográfico da Cidade de Rio de Janeiro), received the Funarte Award for Occupation of Scenic Spaces in 2010 (with the project Cidade Híbrida), had selected works for the International Biennial of the Occupied City – Year of France in Brazil, and in different units of the SESCs of the Rio de Janeiro / São Paulo axis, participated in the Viradão Cultural de Rio de Janeiro for two consecutive years, as well as in 7 editions of the State Hip Hop Festival Arena Híbrida.
Cia Híbrida is sponsored by the Brazilian Culture Incitiative Law, through the Ministério da Cultura, Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Secretaria Municipal de Cultura, Unimed-Rio and Conservice.
