In 2012, Joshua Monten founded his own dance company, which has performed hundreds of times around the world, at the Hivernales d’Avignon, Esplanade Theatre in Singapore, the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, the CIFCET Festival in Cairo, the Festival de Danza Nueva in Lima, the Krokusfestival in Hasselt, the Chassepierre Festival, the Swiss Contemporary Dance Days and the Queer New York International Arts Festival.
Joshua Monten enjoys creating hybrid forms by recombining contemporary dance with ingredients as varied as dog behaviour, sign language, stage combat and Commedia dell’Arte. His choreographic language is playful, ironic, complex, baroque and athletically inventive.
