Description
Joël Defrance (Lyon, Geneva, Amsterdam, 1988) is a musician and performer.
A Bachelor’s student in the Art-Action section of HEAD/Geneva with Yan Duyvendak, he develops queer and musical performances that explore different forms of desire, from the introspective to the collective. His fascination with the ghosts of divas and his quest for physical connection drive his narratives, offering an infectious experience of intimacy. Inspired by the lyrical landscapes of Pasolini and the outbursts of Griselidis Réal, he unleashes a camp and operatic energy in vivo. His vocal work as a poetic tool makes the exhibition spaces and the public respond to each other, between tragedy and comedy.
