LOUIS MATUTE LARGE ENSEMBLE feat. JOYCE MORENO + Frederico Heliodoro
This special evening is the result of a collaboration between the Geneva-based associations ENCONTRO and KINCH, united by a shared vision: to celebrate the richness and ongoing evolution of jazz and Brazilian music through different generations of artists.
Opening the night is Frederico Heliodoro, one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Brazilian jazz. Moving seamlessly between Rio de Janeiro, New York, and major international stages, he represents a new generation of Brazilian musicians alongside acclaimed artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Louis Cole, and Pedro Martins.
In the second half, the remarkable Louis Matute presents Dolce Vita in its Large Ensemble version, joined by the legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Joyce Moreno—a true icon of bossa nova who has collaborated with some of the greatest names in Brazilian music, from Tom Jobim to Milton Nascimento.
Blending tradition, innovation, and reinvention, this concert offers a journey through the many facets of Brazilian music, from its historic pioneers to its most vibrant contemporary voices.
Bio
Young promising guitarist from Geneva, Louis Matute is recognized for his qualities as a performer and composer. Thanks to a pronounced taste for creation, he was recognized with the release of his albums « How Great This World Can Be » (2020) and « Our Folklore » (2022), which earned him great success in the press and various distinctions. After having toured the Swiss festivals, he soon performed on the big stages of the Montreux Jazz Festival. His project Louis Matute Large Ensemble is a concept with variable geometry, a clever mix between current music and popular Latin music, leading us into a unique artistic landscape where the cohesion between the harmony and the musicians is strong. In 2019 he received the Cully Jazz Festival prize, was part of the residency program of the Artists Associated with the Abri, and won the Jazz Contreband competition. He also received the 2022 ZKB Audience Jazz Award in Zürich, the Evidence Prize of the Académie du Jazz and first place on the TSF Jazz 2022 prize list. An eclectic musician, he is a sideman for several projects with different styles, which have allowed him to perform on the most prestigious stages in Europe.
